She felt the rush of the icy water, the need to give up and knew that the sea would claim her and everything went dark. Macy never expected to awaken again, let alone to find her rescuer to be anything but human.

Jax is a kraken, he has heard the horrors about those who live on land, his people had lived them, but the treasure he found in the sea was too hard to pass up. Now he possessed one of the humans, but little did he know he would find someone not unlike himself on the inside.

They were as different as night and day, she was of the land and the air, he was of the sea, but in spite of their differences, and the way they met, they forged a bond that transcended everything but love. But how do they convince their people to see beyond the fears, the past and find that same acceptance?

by Tiffany Roberts is a brilliant fantasy romance that proves that love knows no boundaries as they place two souls together, one as captive, one as captor and natural curiosity and a primal attraction breaks down the walls of their differences.

What a fabulous tale of romance! The kraken are not perfect, but they are fascinating, almost as fascinating as their history as it is unveiled. Team Tiffany Roberts has taken two “species” and broken down the barriers of resistance and small-mindedness and opened up an entirely new series to explore with their imagination. Great writing that pulls readers in from the start slowly, then hits cruising speed and never lets up! Wonderful background detail, scenes that are incredibly believable, and a new tolerance that leads to love…I cannot wait for more!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Tiffany Roberts!

Macy is a nice young woman plagued with guilt for a childhood mistake which led to the death of her sister. Convinced she must do penance, she devotes her life to the good of others and trying to please her parents at the cost of her own happiness. When she meets Jax, her world is turned upside down and she's forced to face her demons, her true desires, as well as the past of her colony she knew nothing about.

Jax breaks so many rules of his people for her but she fills the void that has isolated him from them. They truly are soulmates and I love how the relationship grows between them. I especially loved how the author addressed more serious topic through the story such as tolerance, forgiveness and the "sins of the father" where you shouldn't punish someone else for the crimes of others.

Nothing irks me more than a cliché villain whose being a dick just because your story needs the drama. So I was really happy to see Tiffany didn't fall into that trap. The characters were well-rounded and even when I didn't necessarily agree with their choices, they made sense based on their personalities and situation.

    I can't wait to read Arkon's story!!

So to be honest, I did not expect to like this book as much as I did.

A human falling in love with a octopus man?

    That just isn't right!

    So wrong.

Macy has lived her life on land, never straying to the sea after that fateful day.

Her sister had been claimed by the sea, and Macy had almost been as well.

Macy has lived her life on land, never straying to the sea after that fateful day.

Her sister had been claimed by the sea, and Macy had almost been as well.

She vowed to be better and no longer wander to the waters.

However, things change when she decides to make her joining with Camrin permanent.

He wants to show her a special place he had found while fishing one day.

Braving the waters once more, she climbs upon Camrin's boat to become his wife.

It is her duty and she has put it off for too long.

Neither expected the storm to hit or for it to wash Macy out of the boat.

What Macy definitely didn't expect was to be saved by a half-human, half-octopus creature that calls himself Jax.

    Jax has always been curious.

Always wandering away from his den and other kraken mates.

It has set him apart from the others, making them question his loyalty.

Saving a human woman in the water was just something else he wanted to investigate.

Neither expects the attraction they feel towards one another.

But soon they can no longer fight it.

Jax and Macy have to fight for their love, for their right to be together. No matter how wrong some may find it.

When I received this book, I was skeptical.

I'm a huge paranormal fan and love a good romance, but I've only recently broadened my horizon away from the usual vampire and werewolf cliche.

Seeing a story where one of the main focus is a kraken made me leery.

I am so glad I gave this story a shot though.

I didn't think I would be sucked into as much as I was.

The plot line is well thought out.

The characters have depth and the chemistry is amazing.

I can't wait to see what this series has to bring.

Will it follow Macy and Jax? Or will we see other kraken's finding mates among the humans?

If you want something completely different from anything you have read before, give this book a shot.

You may have the same reservations that I did, but you will not regret it once dive it.

I had to force myself to put my iPad down to get rest before I was finished.

It was so hard to not keep reading and forgo the sleep my body required.

I can honestly say that this story surprised me and left me wanting more.

A couple week ago I watched a beautiful story about a mute human and a sea creature God, who fall in love. This kind of reminded me of that movie.

I remember watching it for what it was. Two beings, despite all odds, who wanted desperately to be together. I thought it was touching, and beautiful, and I didn't find a single odd thing about their love. I thought it was touching, and beautiful, and I didn't find a single odd thing about their love. My husband would say otherwise; but he's not romantic, and would certainly never fathom to find love between two beings whom are clearly as different as night and day, at all possible.

But I'm a hopeless fucking romantic.

And so long as the two people are happy and willing to make it work (and it's a total plus if their, you know, COMPATIBLE) then I say let cake be cake.

    Even if they have tentacles.

    So yeah, I loved this book. It kept me captivated. The world building was thought out so well and described so beautifully I could see it like a movie in my mind. Everything Macy and Jax did;

; I could see visually in my head.

And you know what, despite their vast differences, their love was

believable then some human/human love I've read about in books.

Their love touched my heart. I'll be thinking about this book long after moving onto other endeavors.

I don't care how weird you think I may be for loving

    . To that I say;

While I really enjoyed this book and look forward to future books in this new series I do have some concerns.

Jax upsets the balance of the human/kraken who are both living almost unknown of the others existence by rescuing Macy from certain death in a storm. The slow acceptance and evolution into a romance requires a small bit of insta-love/lust to move it along.

The story does not follow the direction you might think and there are some unexpected twists and turns which add to the readers enjoyment but there are some sex scenes that may or may not appeal to some folks since the kraken are "equipped" with all the needed equipment for sex they still have those tentacles so your mental image may vary.

Bottom Line: Aside from the mental images the reader might have the story was exceptional, the characters gripping and not cardboard cutouts but 4 Stars for seeming to overlook a few minor things that I might not have thought about if I had not been a reader of Grace Draven's "Wraith Kings" series. While it does have a small bit of Beauty & the Beast vibe it is totally unlike that story in pretty much everything other than the obvious situation. 4 Stars and maybe more but I want to read more of this world.

Macy, is a good ole farmer. When the guy everyone expects her to marry takes her out to sea, a storm causes their ship to wreck. Macy wakes up in a cave with no knowledge of how she got there. She's alone...until she sees something lurking in the darkness.

Jax the Wanderer. That is the name his people have given him because he doesn't like to stay in their home. He likes to explore and his exploring leads him to saving a human girl from the storm. Humans are the enemy. But this one is different.

    -------------

This book won't be everyone's cup of tea. I admit I got a little weirded out by it too.

So in hindsight...I didn't think Jax was tentacle sea creature ALL the time. I thought, like a mermaid...or merman...once dry his tentacles would turn to legs. But no.

How very...Ursula. It was a little weird to come to terms with at first. But I shrugged it off and thought

It was actually a very enjoyable story! I'm looking forward to the next book!

Lots of hype about this book. Pity it's totally unwarranted ;P

This is NA, ergo pretty silly heroine, plot and setting too. Moving in space doesn't change anything, it's still stupid, unbelievable and insta everything. Get rid of the Aquaman hype: you see a teen oh so suffering because her family/society mistreats her, she's saved/kidnapped by enemy hero. As soon as the 2 see each other they fall in lust. She's from a village but her mind is open and doesn't scream bloody murder at seeing him.

Let me say that I skim read to 50% just because, at this point, I was damn curious about the sex, as I said Ursula... Honestly it's no way anything new. Just so you know :P Nor was it hot, as you damn well need to be involved to be interested in...

I haven't finished it, but I am pretty sure I know what it's going to happen...

It's KU or 4 bucks, and I was seriously tempted to ask those back. But I did get to halfway point...
