I was full blown obsessed with Dimple, so I was pretty much screaming at the post office when this arc showed up.

I loved Twinkle and Sahil. She’s smart and sassy and is working to be vocal. He’s sweet and adorable and working to be visible. They’re both feeling a bit neglected for different reasons and I loved watching them get closer. Twinkle does go through a period of icky and I wanted to just shake her, but her growth was perfect. However, it was Dadi who stole every scene she was in.

Plot wise, I loved it. The format of letters, texts, emails, and journal entries was a great way to share the story. Added bonus was how it showed that there’s so much more to a person than what you see on the surface. There is some conflict and I could have done with a bunch more kissing, but it was a great mixture of sweetness, laughs, and heartfail.

Overall, it was exactly what I wanted to read. The story was sweet and realistic and had characters I was rooting for right from the beginning. I can’t wait to see what Sandhya does next.

**Huge thanks to Simon Pulse for providing the arc free of charge**

    4.5/5

    *sniff*

This book made my desi heart so so happy. Twinkle is such a lovely and inherently flawed young girl who makes mistakes throughout the book, but also grew and learned from them. I loved watching her blossom, and even when she made me mad and sad, I was rooting for her.

And then there was the pure cinnamon roll that is Sahil. Menon knows how to write kind, swoony boys!

If you liked Dimple, you'll love Twinkle!

I know that 16 year old me would've cried from joy because she would've seen a heroine just like her, the star of the show, struggling and learning the same lessons as her, and she wouldn't have felt so alone. This book meant so much to me, and I know it will to so many other marginalized, especially Indian, teens. I have only once cried on the bus before, and that wasn't even because of a book. When I read this, when I read about Nani and Dadi, when I read about Twinkle's confusion, Twinkle's mother, Twinkle's struggle, I felt physically felt my heart hurt.

Not only that, but the fierce, strong feminist thoughts, the determination to break that glass ceiling, the fight in Twinkle to earn the right to wear the "I am my ancestor's wildest dreams" shirt left me speechless.

Twinkle is a teenager, she makes impulsive, foolish mistakes; she gets in head over heels on a bad plan; she feels like her career is now or never, and that is such a good representation of young adults, in my opinion. I know when I was writing as a 16 year old, I felt like I had to write the best book ever and get it published right away, or my career as a writer will never happen. Hell, I'm 18 and I still feel like that even though I

    that that's not true.

Twinkle was a relatable, funny, sometimes reckless, main character, and I am glad I got to meet her.

I cried, I laughed, and I cannot tell you enough how important this book is.
