The latest and almost last in the Found in Oblivion series from Quinn and Elliott, sensualists, masters of rock romance, had me glued to my eReader. From the very beginning there were twists I did not expect accompanied by a touching love story I desperately longed for.

On the surface Warning Sing’s drummer, Malachi Shawcross, cares for no one but himself. The truth is he cares. Deeply. Especially for his brother, his niece, and the woman he saved but doesn’t remember him doing so. The irresistible woman who hates him. The sexy guitarist who plays in front of him every night while he pounds away his frustrations on his drums. Until one event changes everything. Until the night he makes a split second decision and saves her once more and nothing will ever be the same.

Richelle (Elle, Ricki) Crandall has had one too many second chances, but this time she’s going to take advantage of the offer made by the man who saved her. To be her addition. It’s as dangerous as it is tempting, especially when her road to recovery is long and their band is still being threatened. Can she keep herself on the straight and narrow and convince Mal she’s he’s as worthy of love as she is?

Getting my hands on a book by this writing duo is always a treat because I know I’ll be getting a wonderful balance between a great plot, complex main characters, visits from characters from past books and other series and a love story that will evoke a wide range of emotions.

I had waited so long for Mal to get his happy ever after. It seemed like it would never happen given his utterly grouchy disposition 24/7. But tough exteriors usually hide soft hearts and his had been unknowingly taken hostage by the lovely Ricki. It was no surprise he had a great capacity to love, but what did surprise me is how many people he actually cared for even if he’d never admit it. He’s protective, thoughtful and sexy as sin. It was delightful to see how much he loved Ricki and absolutely endearing to realize just how much he wanted her to love him back.

Neither Ricki nor her also famous brother Nick has an easy start in life, but she made some colossal mistakes and for the past couple of years she’s been trying to keep her life in check until the night that left emotional as well as physical wounds. For a recovering addict, trying to drown out and numb the pain, fear and trauma without some chemical help seems impossible until the man who seemed to never care about anyone helps her realize everything she stands to lose and gives her a different way to cope.

Besides this being a rock romance and a sort of office romance since the hero and heroine work together, I loved that these two were civil at best, completely antagonistic towards each other the rest of the time. So watching these two build a relationship from enemies to lovers was certainly interesting. Their start was rocky (pun intended), but once Ricki saw beyond Mal’s façade their emotional bonds grew exponentially. They were so deserving of love and a happy ending, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next.

Raw Rhythm is book #6 of the Found in Oblivion series by Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott. It is a standalone contemporary rocker romance. Told from both points of view and has a happy ending.

We finally get the much awaited for story of Mal, the guy who always had an edge to him and would distance himself as much as possible from the rest of his family/bandmates. We finally get the much awaited for story of Mal, the guy who always had an edge to him and would distance himself as much as possible from the rest of his family/bandmates. At the end of the last book of this series we were left with a tragedy that left Mal and Elle behind in New York and both were trying to come to terms with what had happened. Elle, not knowing if she would ever be able to play guitar again and as always struggling with her addictions because it would have just been easier that way to deal with everything now felt like she owed Mal her life. These two seemed to be at each other’s throats all the time and knew how to use words that would cause the most damage to the other and always there to see the continuous rotations of men and women they each went through. So what a strange situation to now be in with only the two of them to help each other through this nightmare.

Would these two actually find some solace in each other or would the past be too much for them to overcome? There are surprises that leave you wondering if this tragedy was an accident or was there something else going on? These authors did a fantastic job yet again giving plenty of steamy sex with a heartbreaking and yet heartwarming story that won’t let you put the book down. For those of you who haven’t read this series and love rock romance, do yourself a favor and get them now. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.

I received this book as an ARC for a freely given and honest review.

As we headed into this highly anticipated series finale, there were many loose threads that needed to be tied up. Most critical was the welfare and future of the band and its members after the shocking end to the previous book. Possibly related to that was the resolution to the mysterious mishaps plaguing the band and Ripper Records. Last, but certainly not least, finally learning what makes sexy drummer Malachi Shawcross so dayum grumpy and a reluctant part of the group, and how in the world he and fellow bandmate Ricki “Elle” Crandall were going to stop sniping at each other long enough to find their HEA together. It promised lots of fireworks and drama. And it delivered both in spades, along with much laughter, steam, and tears. A whole bucket’o tears for this reader.

Except for lobbing insults back at Mal, Elle was quiet and kept to herself in the previous books. I didn’t have a real sense of who she was, but thought she might take a submissive roll to Mal’s alpha. Oooooh, I have never been happier to be wrong. She gave as good as—if not better—than she got, and it made for some really fun times.

Grumpy, growly alphas and I rarely get along. I was so curious about Mal’s secrets that I was able to overlook most of his gruffness. Plus Elle did such a marvelous job of keeping him in check his surliness was more entertaining than frustrating. By the epilogue he had mellowed enough that I may have felt a little thaw in the area around my heart.

Much of the book focused on Elle and Mal, so we got to know them well. With their familial and professional connections in addition to the series wrap up, the storyline dictated there be appearances by many characters from this and other Quinn & Elliott’s popular series. Seeing the other cast members was exciting and also poignant. Particular moments with some of the family were absolutely hilarious.

This series wrap up was as emotional as expected and funnier than I imagined. It hits you in all the feels, which is why I loved it.

Oh my word......Raw Rhythm was worth the wait! Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott knocked it out of the park with this gritty, emotional, raw and unforgettable story about the mysterious and gruff Malachi Shawcross (he, the former stepson of Lila Shawcross Crandall) and the beautiful but flawed Elle (aka Ricki/Richelle) Crandall (she, the twin sister of Nick Crandall). Raw Rhythm is not a standalone as it picks up exactly where Pitch Perfect left off and Quinn and Elliott immediately go for the jugular as readers grapple with the aftermath of the accident that changed the lives forever for the members of Warning Sign and their significant others. The story will hit every emotion for readers: heartbreak, salvation, hope, happiness, surprise, fear and ultimately faith and contentment.

The characters are some of the most powerful that the authors have written. Malachi (known as Mal) has been a complete enigma from the first instance that we met him. Mal is a complete paradox---big, dark, brooding and mysterious, keeping mostly to himself rather than getting close to any of his bandmates, including his brother. Yet in Raw Rhythm we see a side of Mal that will make readers melt. He's caring and tender, capable of love in a way that nobody would ever expect. His reasons for putting up these solid walls around himself will break your heart. There's a reason he is how he is and as Elle gets to know the "real" Malachi, she peels back his layers and finds immense beauty within. Yes, he'll always be gruff and brooding, but when Elle breaks through those walls, readers will fall head over heels for this uniquely beautiful man.

Then there's Elle (to those who know her from the past, she goes by Richelle or Ricki with Elle being her stage name). She's a former addict who has made something of her life as one of the guitarists in Warning Sign. She and Mal have had a contentious relationship at best from the start but when Mal saved her life at the end of Pitch Perfect, something changed and Elle is determined to figure out the surly Mal. Elle's backstory is also an emotional one. Readers of Quinn and Elliott's Lost in Oblivion series have learned part of her history being that she is the twin of LIO's founder and lead guitarist. But readers are in for surprises aplenty as her full past is revealed. As Elle and Mal spend more time together, their bond grows and these two finally give into the intense sparks that have always sizzled on the periphery. Get ready to fan yourselves readers because they are two of the HOTTEST couples I've read. Forget sparks, these two ignite into an inferno!!!

Since this is an emotional and gritty story, of course there are secrets that come to light that will shock each character as well as readers. There is also danger, intrigue and an exciting culmination to a menacing threat that has loomed over Warning Sign, ultimately causing the devastating accident in Pitch Perfect. Just when I thought I had it figured out and knew who was wreaking havoc on our favorite characters, the authors go and pull one over on readers, veering in a completely different direction. The mystery/suspense is superbly written and will leave readers reeling when all is revealed.

At its very heart and soul, Raw Rhythm is a love story for the ages reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast. Both characters save each other in different ways and the beauty revealed within each is unforgettable. It's an emotional journey that will make you laugh and make you cry. You'll fall in love and bank a new book boyfriend and when all is said and done, you'll pray to the altar of Quinn and Elliott and thank your lucky stars that these two came together to create a story and characters that will resonate deeply. This story gets all the stars and then some!

Malachi is in true alpha mode protective throughout the story and Elle/Rickie is true to form also. Elle continues to recover, but has growing concerns. Elle/Rickie is staying with her friend Teagan at her apartment but, after a break-in, living arrangements change.

Malachi and Elle/Rickie return, to California, for the Celebration of Randy's Life service and... Elle/Rickie and Malachi leave separately going different ways. When Elle/Rickie returns, to Malachi's, reveals her suspicions of events. The suspense grows...

My belief is that this is one of the best rocker stories and I want more from these two ladies. Thanks for a awesome story.

great stuff for binge -reading. it's like your favourite soap just had a new episode out.

Larger than life characters, a story that undulates between tension -filled, funny, sad and hopeful, lots of cameos of characters from other books makes this book an absolute must -have for every Oblivionite and fan of Warning Sign and Hammered.

And thankfully this book ends on a hopeful note. Tonight I can sleep peacefully knowing all is going to be well. When can I order my next fix....

I never know exactly what to expect from a book by the writing team of Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott, I know I’m going to get lots of emotion, colorful characters, a hard fought love story, and time with characters from previous books. I also know that they have surprised me on a few occasions and they really did so in Raw Rhythm, to say I didn’t expect the way things played out to happen is an understatement and it is not a bad thing, in fact I have to give them kudos for the twist in this story

I never know exactly what to expect from a book by the writing team of Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott, I know I’m going to get lots of emotion, colorful characters, a hard fought love story, and time with characters from previous books. I also know that they have surprised me on a few occasions and they really did so in Raw Rhythm, to say I didn’t expect the way things played out to happen is an understatement and it is not a bad thing, in fact I have to give them kudos for the twist in this story, one I didn’t expect and one that made for very entertaining reading. On top of that we got a fantastic love story between two people who have antagonized each other since they were placed in the same band, but we also find they have a bit of shared history and more than that when they fall, they fall deep and hard.

Malachi (Mal) Shawcross has always put on an a$$hole front, but the thing is with characters like Mal is that I always feel there is way more to them than meets the eye and in this book we get to see a whole lot of what makes Mal tick. I wasn’t at all surprised that he fell hard, the broody ones always seem to do so, but I was surprised by how deeply he feels for not only Richelle (Elle, Ricki) Crandall, but for people he calls his grandparents and honestly everyone who he works with even though he’d never admit it. I loved the complexity of Mal and that underneath his hard outer shell lurks a sentimental, sweet man who wants nothing more than to be loved and to be seen for the man he is, not for the way the press has portrayed him in the past. He is loyal, thoughtful, protective, and most of all dedicated all qualities very few people see in him.

Ricki Crandall has made some big time mistakes in her life and she has spent the last few years trying to not only make up for them, but to keep her life together so she never goes back to that dark place again. Following an accident at a show, she is in the hospital with a lot of damage to her body including her arm she uses to make a living as a guitarist in Warning Sign. She is scared, traumatized by the fact that one of her best friends lost a man she loved in the accident when she lived, and she longs to bury her head in the sand and forget it all which is behavior she can’t afford to repeat. When she spirals out of control the man who saved her life at the concert, saves her again and leaves her off balance and seeing him in a totally different light. Little does she know that for years he’s wanted nothing more than to be the one she needs, but he’s not sure he can go down that road again with a recovering addict.

The complicated relationship between Mal and Ricki from being band mates certainly put an interesting spin on them moving on to friends and then more. There was no doubt after Mal moved heaven and earth to save Ricki at the event incident that he felt way more for her than just a member of his band, but he backed off to let her heal until she reaches out and then all bets were off. I enjoyed watching them build a relationship even when it was volatile at the beginning with both of their emotions running all over the place from contempt, to hate, to scared, to grateful, and more, but when Ricki began to see the man beneath the mask he always wears I was as entranced as she was. I’ll put it out there because I know people want to know there were several sex scenes and they were fantastically written and hot and that is all well and good, but it was the emotional journey that these two took that made this book so special. I was thrilled that the majority of their conflict came from outside sources and instead of letting it break them, it made them even closer which is always a win.

Raw Rhythm had me run the gambit of emotions and it was a beautifully told love story for two people who so fiercely needed someone to be their champion and in each other they found it in each other. I loved this book!

Raw Rhythm is the 6th book in the Found in Oblivion series. I think this story would be best enjoyed if read in order to give deeper insight to the secondary characters, but if anything - Perfect Pitch should be read first as Raw Rhythm begins where Perfect Pitch left off.

I know I've said this before, but this time I mean it more than the last.... Mal and Elle are my favorite couple of the series. They are one of those couples who seemed very comfortable in the background of life. He the drummer, she a guitarist who stays in the middle of the stage. They ignore each other - perhaps because they see each other as equal vs the air they both put on. Together, they burn so bright that there is no way they could just blend into the background.

Elle has some issues in her past and the way that Mal deals with it is just fantastic. This whole series involves families of the heart and families of origin. It's awesome to see how they all meld together into one amazing team.

This story actually had me feeling all the feelings. It seriously has a bit of everything: romance, hot sex, angst, mystery and most of all the sweetest grandparents a person could ask for.

I absolutely recommend this book, this series and these authors.

But with the band under siege from a threat from the past, Mal is no longer fighting to keep from falling for the one woman he shouldn’t.

He’s fighting to keep her alive.

REVIEW: 4.75 stars--RAW RHYTHM is the sixth instalment in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult FOUND IN OBLIVION erotic, rock star romance series focusing on the rock band WARNING SIGN. This is Warning Sign’s drummer Malachi ‘Mal’ Shawcross, and guitarist Richelle ‘Elle’ aka Ricki Crandall’s story line. The FOUND IN OBLIVION series is a spin off from Quinn and Elliott’s LOST IN OBLIVION series. Several characters from LIO cross over including Nick Crandall, band manager Lila Shawcross and Ripper Records owner Donovan Lewis. You do not have to have read the original series to follow or understand the events of RAW RHYTHM although some of the events in the current time line are as of a direct result of earlier events in the original series. RAW RHYTHM can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion. Mal is the brother of Michael Shawcross (Bedded Bliss / Found In Oblivion #1), and step-son to band manager Lila Shawcross; Elle is the twin sister of Nick Crandall (Owned / Lost in Oblivion #5).

NOTE: If you have not read book five –PERFECT PITCH-there may be some spoilers in my review.

Told from several third person perspectives including Mal and Elle, RAW RHYTHM picks up immediately after the events of book five PERFECT PITCH in which an accident tore apart the rock band Warning Sign leaving our heroine struggling for her life, and grieving the loss of a close-member of their music family and crew. For three years, Malachi Shawcross has been both protector and foil to Warning Sign guitarist Richelle ‘Elle’ Crandall, a former drug addict whose rock and roll lifestyle was spiralling out of control. A deadly on-stage accident finds our heroine struggling to move forward as grief and survivor’s guilt weigh heavily on her fragile shoulders. Enter Mal Shawcross, adversary and enemy, and the man with whom Elle would fall in love. What ensues is the building romance between Mal and Elle as Mal helps our heroine through acceptance and recovery, and the potential fall out as the past comes seeking revenge against the people he believes have done him harm.

Throughout the series Mal and Elle have battled their apparent attraction and hatred towards one another as Mal continues to watch from the sidelines as the woman with whom he had fallen in love slowly destroyed what was left of her life. Elle struggled to remain clean but the rock and roll lifestyle fed the addiction that was to become the devil inside. But the accident brought everything into perspective including our couple’s sexual attraction and desire for one another. The $ex scenes are erotic, passionate, seductive and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including all of the members and their spouses of the rock bands Oblivion and Warning Sign; employees of Ripper Records; and Lila’s parents aka Grandma and Grandpa Ronson; and Elle’s friend Teagan.

RAW RHYTHM is the second to last instalment in the authors’ FOUND IN OBLIVION series. The romances are provocative and emotional; the characters are heartbreaking and real; the story lines are powerful and inspiring. RAW RHYTHM is a story of two people fated by circumstance pulled together by mutual grief and loss; battling the demons that all but destroyed their lives. The premise is riveting; the characters are animated; the romance is edgy and hot.
