Two sisters go head to head in the thrilling ending to the

    series,

Emelina and Olivia Flores are at odds with how to rule over their group of Ruined. Where Olivia wants to kill every human she can get her hands on, Emelina wants to do the opposite and try to unite Ruined and humans together. By secretly saving humans from Olivia's wrath wherever she can in Lera, Em begins to think of a plan to take down her sister once and for all. With the help of her best friend Aren, lover/boyfriend/husband? King Casimir and a couple of others, Emelina has to stop Olivia before she becomes the ruler of one of the most powerful kingdoms.

I really enjoyed the final installment to this trilogy. The character development is truly amazing. You can definitely notate the differences in Em, Cas, Aren, and Galo from

until now. Even though the trilogy occurs in the span of a few weeks, you barely notice with everything going on.

Amy Tintera delivered yet another compelling story about morals, politics, love and just plain ol' doing the right thing. Following everyone on their journey was enjoyable and exciting at time. The characters relationships were especially something I loved and fell hard for. Cas and Em's love story is truly sweet. The way they care for each other makes you say swoon with heart eyes. Aren and Iria's feelings blossom into something that anyone can root for.

And even the background relationship of Galo and Mateo. I love when the LGBTQ community are featured in books and I love that nowadays you see more and more of them. And I can't forget about the budding bromance of Galo and Aren. Their friendship is one that I rooted for and I'm happy they went on that adventure together and grew closer and learned how to trust one another. But my favorite bromance will always be Galo and Cas, #BFFs!

Iria was a background character that was a nice addition to the group. But I feel as though she was just there as Aren's love interest. Aside from that, she really didn't have a true purpose in the book...well, at least until the end

. Other than the major role she played during the battle scene at the end, I didn't see the point in Iria's presence.

would have still been amazing even without a love interest for Aren...even if it would've taken a chunk out of the story. However, it wouldn't have a made a difference, other than having a shorter book. However, I didn't hate her character. I loved when she and Aren were together and as an individual, she was just there, just present. I also felt the same about Mateo. As Galo's boyfriend, he is just that, Galo's boyfriend. But I loved his interactions with Galo, but like I said, as an individual, not much of a character.

As the villain, Olivia begins to spiral more out of control as she discovers Em's true intentions and sees that most of the Ruined are siding with Em. She believes that violence and fear are the only ways to establish power and control. But after defeat, everyone begins to see that she is not the all powerful leader that she claims to be and all of her Ruined followers have left her side. Olivia is a girl hell bent on revenge and will do anything and sacrifice anyone to get it.

. I was sad to see that she was the one character that didn't change, she would not or could not let go of her anger and hatred. But at the same time I'm happy she didn't let it go. It fueled her, which in turn pushed the story line ahead. She was a villain through and through.

There was nothing that I hated about this book. However, I did wish that there was an epilogue. The ending could've been more full circle. I felt like there was more to say. But other than that, I loved

    . The

series definitely goes down as a favorite. This book just made me want to read so much more from Amy Tintera.

I am just so content with this series and how it ended you guys, I love it!! The writing style is very simplistic although the plot is anything but that 👏🏻 My journey with this story started when I won my first Goodreads giveaway in 2016 and I had no clue what would be in store for me. I wasn’t much of a fantasy reader and I was just excited over the fact that I had won a free book lol but little did I know that I would fall so hard for these characters and this story, that it would become one o

I’m not saying that it was perfect since there are a few things I’d change but I personally enjoyed the story a lot so I’m giving it 5 stars 🌟There’s good romance(multiple ships!!), kickass characters that you can’t help but become attached to and an amazing storyline that will keep you hooked so I’d definitely recommend it to all fantasy lovers out there :) So grateful for this buddy read with

I actually enjoyed the ending of this trilogy. The characters definitely grow on you and I knew I would like Em from the very beginning. The characters were written very realistically and the concept of the Ruined was also written well. I feel very happy right now because looking back I feel like a lot of what happened could have been made more theatrical and unrealistic but it wasn't and it was done very well.

The characters were amazing and I love them all. Even the antagonists proved to be great characters who complimented a great story. Em from the very beginning was clearly a great leader who kept her focus on the well being of her people but still maintained a head for morality and what is right. Watching the Ruined look past her being Useless and see that she can be the best leader in the history of Ruina is a wonderful experience.

We see Cas as he realises and resents what is happening in Leran society, and that all of it is happening because of his parents. When you lose everything its just easier to let it all go, but all he needed was a push to see through the misery and to the responsibility which now lay upon his shoulders.

We follow him as he grows as a person and a leader and comes to terms with his parents death and be the King his people need while trying to the King his people want.

I think it was smart to gradually introduce more perspectives into the trilogy because many perspectives in the beginning would have confused the plot with too many opinions but introducing them after we got to know the character was definitely a smart thing to do.

The story was written very well and I feel like the plot carried well though out the trilogy. Each book had a goal of its own: like the first one was Em rescuing her sister but also being enlightened to the fact that she couldn't blame all Lerans for the faults of a few, the second was Olivia turning out to be just like her mother and Em realising that Olivia can't be allowed to lead hence leading her to accept the fact that she was going to have to betray her sister. And this book, the final installation of the trilogy, brought everything and tied it together. And the series still had its eye on that ending that we knew was coming while keeping in line with the plot.

I loved these books and I had a great time reading them in one stretch. Amy Tintera did a great job with the characters and the court politics that showed up. I rate this book 4 stars.

    Okay now I've finished

and OMG WHERE IS BOOK THREE, I NEED IT. o_o This is going to be a looooooong wait! The cliffhangers of this series aren't terrible, but they certainly are cliffhangers...

I'm actually kind of sad that this is a trilogy, not a duology! The way

ended would make it book one of two, perfect for a duology. But, I'm curious and excited to see where the series goes. It wasn't my intention to start a trilogy but

It kind of is the most chill fantasy series I've ever read? Literally all the characters are so mellow...which is fine. Like it was refreshing and different and I loved all the characters the whole way through! The ambling pace and slowness surprised me though and I'd have to say I think the first two books were the strongest.

But Cas! Em!! Galo! LOVE THEM. There's just so much

here, although not nearly enough cheese bread??? I have literally been deprived and am not okay with that???

My BAD. But life is literally so busy right now. My TBR is screaming, I am screaming, the walls are screaming (probably should get that looked at but idk). So I went in a bit flustered that I wouldn't remember enough. I DID remember enough! Except for Iria who I have no freaking clue who is in this entire world. She even had narrating chapters and I am like: "This woman??? I Do nOT know her." (I'm so sorry.)

For a finale, this is understandable, but it needed more of a BANG at the end, and I honestly just felt we all canoed down a quiet river.

Like I said, it's mellow. The whole thing is. But there are some super lovely jokes and moments when I'm snickering. LOVE the dry sarcasm. And Amy Tintera has such a distinct style! Although I with the characters had felt more YA...they honestly all felt and acted like adults. YA does this a

and like...that's ok??? But I feel YA is supposed to have some coming-of-age themes, but everyone felt like they were ready to be 33 and married and have two kids and six goats by the end and I'm just...hmm.)

It is soft, despite all the murder (soft murder?) and it was a nice conclusion, if all a bit...unbothered and not risky.

I have been a huge fan of this series, and I also loved Amy Tintera's other duology! I was wondering how this would end. Good? Bad? Ugly? I'll just say it ended how I wanted, but the road getting there wasn't fist pumping worthy.

I did like this book, but didn't love it as much as the other two. I liked Galo, but I wasn't rooting for his chapters in this book. I just wanted to keep getting back to the others'. However, his relationship with Mateo was extremely cute.

Loved Em! Loved Cas! My two little babies will forever hold a special place in my heart. Olivia was still cray-cray and as hostile as ever.

I actually think this trilogy would have worked better as a duology, but it was still fun, full of action, and sprinkled with cute romance. Plus, Tintera's dialogue is always the best!
