Not every goalie plays it safe... As a publicist for the San Francisco Thunder hockey team, Dixie Braddock is too busy rescuing the players from trouble to get into any of her own. Except, of course, when it comes to the super hot new goalie. Because when a guy's kiss curls your toes and sets your heart on fire, how the hell do you just walk away? But if anyone ever catch...

is fantastic and several of the characters, including the hero and heroine, appear in both books.

I loved Eli and Dixie right from the beginning and couldn't get enough of them! Their initial meeting was equal parts silly and sweet as it was sexy and fun. The witty banter and innuendo was absolutely hilarious and the sexual chemistry was so damn hot! All of the build up and push and pull made things absolutely explosive!

I honestly couldn't stop the goofy grin from forming on my face while reading their cheesy pick up lines and text messages. There are some more serious times in the book, but these texts and stolen moments helped lighten the mood and balanced the story well. I loved that there wasn't any unnecessary drama and that the conflict felt realistic and believable. It's rare that I like the hero and heroine equally, but this time I truly fell in love with both Eli and Dixie. Both of them were charismatic, intelligent, and driven individuals with issues to overcome, but this only endeared me to them and made them more relatable.

The Braddock family was another highlight of the book. The entire family is of course amazing and I loved the bond between all the siblings, especially the sorority. These 3 sisters are so supportive and loving to each other, but they also have no filter and hold nothing back. I can't even imagine how Jude felt growing up as the lone brother! Speaking of Jude, it was wonderful to catch up with him and Zoey and I loved his moments with Dixie. Their back and forth about the sex of the future Braddock had me giggling like a fool. Family plays such a vital role in this book and I really applaud the author for showing it in all of its brightest and darkest moments.

I can't recommend this book enough! You definitely do not want to miss Slammed!

I L-O-V-E-D this book! I am generally a big fan of hockey romances, and I have enjoyed the books I read in Denault's Hometown Players series, but this book just had the perfect combination of all my favorite elements.

Dixie Braddock, publicist for the San Francisco Thunder and kid sister of their star player, who is trying to keep the sister thing under wraps as she makes her way through the PR ranks of the Thunder's organization.

Eli Casco, an up and coming goalie, who came back from an injury to make his bid for the NHL and now must unpack his baggage if he hopes to earn a permanent spot on the team.

Eli and Dixie shared a kiss that they could not forget, and try to pick up where they started a year later. Just when it seemed both were ready to attempt to further this relationship, Eli is called up to the Thunder, and that puts him off limits due to the non-fraternization policy.

I loved so many things about this book.

    • Dixie was fabulous. She was sassy and strong and went after things she wanted.

    • Eli was so fun. I swear I smiled almost every time he was on page. He was also the more romantic of the two, and he made me laugh so much. I was actually reading his cheesy pickup lines to my neighbor at work, and we got a good chuckle out of them. They became something I looked forward to, and Denault wrote him some good ones.

    • Dixie's family was fantastic. Her sisters were hilarious, and it was so much fun when all three were together. Her parents were absolutely adorable, and there was just so much love between them all. #FamilyGoals

    • This is the sort of drama I enjoy in a romance too, because it was not between the hero and heroine, but it still complicated things for them. So, you get the tension, without the cliche things you normally see causing issues in a relationship.

    • The banter was pretty top notch, and made me laugh tons. But there was also some really sweet and serious discussions, that made me swoon and sigh.

    • I was so happy with the multiple dimensions Denault gave to both Eli and Dixie. Just when you thought that was all they had in them, a little something more was revealed. I especially loved seeing Eli's gentle side. He came through in a big why when he really needed to.

    • A GRAND GESTURE!!! I am a diehard fan of Say Anything, and am a certified sucker for any sort of grand gesture. I thought the one Denault gave me was rather wonderful, and it came out of nowhere, so it was even better, because I didn't expect it. There was things that happened, which I expected, but I didn't expected it to happen like THAT.

    • I want to list the brotherly love separately because both Dixie and Eli shared great relationship with their big brothers, and we got to share some really meaningful moments with them. I don't know about you, but I eat that stuff up.

    • The ending was fantastic. I must be getting lucky with endings lately, because usually I complain a lot about them, but this one made me so happy. The last chapter, coupled with the epilogue just left me in a highly elated state.

Overall: This book checked off all the right boxes for me. A great hero and heroine, lots of feels, a hot and sweet romance, fantastic familial elements, hockey, and just the right combination of heat, humor, and drama.

Slammed was the second book in the San Francisco Thunder series by Victoria Denault.

Eli and Dixie didn’t know the other’s background and they shared an unforgettable kiss but then left it alone.

Eli and Dixie had sparks from the beginning but there was a serious no fraternization rule in their contracts so they couldn’t pursue anything serious. The storyline then highlighted their interactions and the pull that kept them gravitating towards each other. It was sweet and emotional but Denault also included loads of humor. As a result, I enjoyed the characters tremendously.

Slammed was written with a dual POV. It was well written with dimension, depth and complexity. Denault included so many intriguing characters that I have no idea her direction next, but I’m looking forward to wherever she chooses to lead.

It was strongly suggested I read Slammed, so I went against my policy of starting a series from the beginning and picked this one up. I'm so happy that I did. It was a really fun book. Eli and Dixie had the most amazing chemistry from the beginning to the end and I didn't get that romance reading anxiety from the break-up that almost always comes. Because of how the story was written I wasn't anxious for the dreaded moment and I really appreciated

Dixie and Eli are the focus of this book! Dixie is Jude Braddock's youngest sister and PR person for the NHL team he plays for. One evening she gets stuck in an elevator and experiences the most passionate kiss of her life with Eli, only to find out he might be called up to play for the San Francisco Thunder!!!

Kissing (and pretty much everything sexual) is forbidden from staff to players!

But they can't hold back what is starting to develop between them!

On a crazy ride to keep their relationship as secretive as possible, this book had me turning pages until I finished it.

I always loved having the POV of both characters. It makes me feel like I can know exactly what they're thinking and I get mad when the characters don't know (or pretend) that there's something between them.

If you like sports and romance then you will love this book and series! Coming December 5!!!

So many forbidden romances aren't really forbidden and end up resolving with none of the drama that the characters expected, so in a way, I really enjoyed this one. Eli is a goalie and Dixie is in the PR department for the San Francicso Thunder hockey team. A relationship is forbidden, and termination for the PR person in the relationship is a guarantee.

So, this becomes about 2 people who want to be together, and who can't, because of a circumstance that is not easily changed. And, I liked that the attraction is enough for them to be willing to at least consider the alternatives, to consider that maybe the relationship they are building is one that is worth some sacrifice.

I also liked that the plotting of the book allowed them to start their relationship when it wasn't actually forbidden, to give them a chance to see if they wanted to be together, and to deal with the budding attraction while it is still technically not against the rules.

The sex was hot, the connection felt real, and there were little touches that made Eli seem incredibly approachable and down to earth (and, those were the worst pick up lines in the history of pick up lines) and it made you understand the attraction to Eli that Dixie wants to fight, and ignore, but can't.

I loved that I believed the ending. As I said in the beginning of the review, there were some changes that needed to be made in order for Eli and Dixie to have a real shot at being together. I loved that the changes both worked and seemed to come about more organically, as it left me with the belief that this is a couple who will be together for the long haul.

    I recommend this title.

Oh my gosh. This book. I loved this book! When this book made its way to my house, I really hadn't heard much about it. One look at that yummy cover and I bumped it close to the top of my reading schedule. I took another look at the cover and noticed the hockey stick and was completely sold so I decided to forget about reading schedules and just started reading this book. And I didn't want to stop. I took another look at the cover and noticed the hockey stick and was completely sold so I decided to forget about reading schedules and just started reading this book. And I didn't want to stop. This story focuses on Dixie and Elijah. Dixie works in the PR department at the San Francisco Thunder hockey team. Her brother is a star player on the team but Dixie is keeping that little piece of information under wraps. Elijah, or Eli, is an up and coming hockey player. His brother is the captain of the San Francisco Thunder and Eli is a goalie for their minor league team.

Dixie and Eli are fantastic together from the very start. I could almost feel their chemistry dripping off of the pages before I even finished the prologue. I wanted to see these two figure out how to be together from the very start. Dixie works for the Thunder and is very dedicated to her job which happens to have rules about employees dating players. Eli doesn't play for the Thunder so a little flirting couldn't hurt. Oh boy, how these two flirt! Their flirting was a lot of fun. It was sexy at times and often funny. They pass cheesy lines back and forth which I found completely amusing.

There is some drama in the story but I loved how there was never any doubt as to what Dixie and Eli felt for each other. Eli has some issues to deal with from his past which kept things interesting while Dixie had some serious family issues to handle. Dixie and Eli had things going on in their life but they always wanted each other. They just had to figure out a way to make that happen.

I would highly recommend this book to others. It had the perfect mix of romance, heat, and humor to really keep the pages turning. This is the second book in the San Francisco Thunder series but I read it as a stand alone with absolutely no problem. This was the first time that I have read Victoria Denault's work but I am looking forward to reading more from her in the near future.

I loved this book! Eli and Dixie were so good together. They had amazing chemistry and just seemed to be having a lot of fun with each other. The bad lines that they used with each other were fantastic.

's prologue let us see the first meeting between the main characters. Dixie Braddock is running late for her first day at her new job as PR for the San Francisco Thunder when she meets Eli. They shared a passionate kiss before both learn who the other one is. Fast forward a year later, and now Dixie and Eli are about to see each other again.

Dixie Braddock is loving her job. She's a workaholic but she also spends plenty of time with her family. She's Jude Braddock's sister who plays for the Thunder. Yet, Dixie wants her relationship with Jude to be under wraps. She doesn't want people thinking she got the job because of who her sibling is. She has worked hard to be where she's at and nothing will interfere with her destiny except a certain goalie she can't seem to forget.

Elijah "Eli" Casco is currently part of the hockey minor league for the Thunder. His brother Levi is the captain of the Thunder. They have a great relationship although neither gets along very well with their parents. Eli left college to follow his dream but an injury in the rink almost took his life. He's still dealing with its repercussions when he meets Dixie. He wants to prove that he can move to the NHL as their goalie but even he has doubts about his own capacity.

I also need to mention how much I enjoyed Dixie's family. Her sisters are a hoot and her relationship with Jude was a strong one too. The Braddock siblings' love for their parents was perfectly clear for everyone to see. Same with Eli and Levi. They had a great relationship too.

    Even though I didn't read

, I think you can read

as a standalone. Saying that I need to go back and read it. Jude and Zoey's story has to be an interesting one.
