Rivers of London: Night Witch #1 Reviews

Great start to the second run of the comic.Immediate action and older plots from the books resurfacing.

Loved this one even more than Body Work, especially for the bits for information about mysterious things that were left hanging after the last book. I wish the next book was out already but this is a good story that makes the wait for The Hanging Tree a little more bearable.

I really enjoyed the Night Witch graphic novel series -- it introduced some changes to a character that were referenced in the novels and it was fun to see Vavara's character. I also enjoyed the Russian mobsters falling under Bev Brooks' influence -- and the new character of Maksim will be recurring in the other graphic novels (even later as "Uncle Maksim" to Bev's nieces - don't worry, he's not a love interest!).

The stories move quickly and are fun and enjoyable. It's different from other sci-fi/horror/fantasy because there's almost always a good ending and there's not nearly the level of malice (such as "True Blood" or "American Horror" or "American Gods"). Much as I sometimes groan at a "Doctor Who" episode to remind myself "it's a kids' show!" -- the Peter Grant world is a bit out there, exciting, and no real horrible things happen to real people. There's a strong sense of justice throughout the novels which I appreciate and they don't give me nightmares (talking to you "True Blood"!).

I do confess to "binge-reading" all the graphic novels in one day -- as well as the "Furthest Station" novella.

Fun return to the Rivers of London universe, this time with Russian witches and hinting at a return visit from Lesley somewhere down the line in this series.

I would read anything with Peter Grant in it, even comic books, and this provides a very nice diversion.

I like this Russian witch. Good start for the next story.

3 1/2* Maybe I'm reading these too fast and not looking closely enough at the pictures, but I am finding them hard to follow. Entertaining, but a bit confusing.

    UGH LESLEY

I'm not sure I like this story, yet. Though it might explain few things. Good drawing, as always.

I guess I just don't like poorly written comics. Ben's books are enjoyable.

This writing not so much.. Won't buy any others.
